I. Introduction to KNX Lighting System:

The KNX intelligent lighting control system is a control system designed based on KNX bus technology. KNX bus technology originated in Europe and evolved from three residential and building bus control technologies: EIB, Batibus, and EHS, with EIB (European Installation Bus) being the core of this technology.

Yachuan Electric's intelligent lighting control system uses standard 2×2×0.8 EIB BUS cables (i.e., KNX bus) as the bus cable to connect all intelligent lighting control modules together, forming a complete control system. This enables both remote centralized control of lighting fixtures and local control functionality. The system theoretically supports over 58,000 connected control modules.

KNX intelligent lighting control products are comprehensive and feature well-developed solutions. III.KNX Lighting System Architecture

In the KNX intelligent lighting control system, all devices are interconnected via bus cables (2×2×0.8 four-core cables). Modules that need to be installed in distribution boxes mainly include bus power supplies, switch actuators, dimming actuators, IP gateways, couplers, dry contact input modules, timer modules, etc. These modules are installed using 35mm standard DIN rails.

Modules that need to be installed at control sites mainly include sensors, panels, and touchscreens. Sensors, as automatic control sensing modules, are embedded in corridors. Manual control devices such as panels and touchscreens can be wall-mounted in rooms, duty rooms, and other control sites.

For small and simply laid-out projects, a 10-inch central control screen can be used. It connects directly to the system via bus cables without the need for an IP gateway for protocol conversion, making setup simple and cost-effective. For medium to large projects, an IP gateway can be connected to a computer via an Ethernet cable, enabling terminal remote control through control software installed on the computer. Our self-developed intelligent lighting monitoring software offers users flexible and configurable operations, such as modifying circuit names, defining scenes, and editing timer settings, making it more intelligent and user-friendly. By connecting an external router to send wireless signals, remote control can also be achieved on mobile devices like phones and tablets.

IV. Common Products in KNX Lighting Systems:

Switch Actuators: 4-channel, 6-channel, 8-channel, and 12-channel switch actuators control the switching of high-power circuits, supporting capacitive, resistive, or inductive loads. They also feature timer functions, preset functions, scene functions, and threshold functions.

In addition to the above functions, switch actuators also include current detection capabilities, allowing fault detection in circuits through threshold settings.

KNX Bus Power Supply: The power supply module provides power to the bus, couples bus signals, and monitors the current of the KNX/EIB system. Additionally, this series of power supplies provides a 30V auxiliary DC voltage to power other peripherals (such as touchscreens, IP gateways, etc.).

KNX Multi-function Bus Control Gateway: Features coupler functionality to couple different KNX branches; includes 4 customizable RS485 interfaces, 3 infrared IR interfaces, 4 I/O interfaces, and 8 TCP/IP interfaces; communicates with the host computer WINCONTROL intelligent lighting system integration control software; features clock timer management: freely define KNX branch scene clock management, add time control for specific occasions, and schedule lighting on/off times via a timetable; includes a built-in calendar for selecting years, months, days, weeks, and specific dates, supporting up to 2048 event time management settings.

KNX Line Coupler: Features coupler functionality to couple different KNX branches; communicates with the host computer WINCONTROL intelligent lighting system integration control software.

V. KNX Lighting System Functions

Manual Control: By installing smart panels or touchscreens in controlled areas, users can switch or adjust the brightness of controlled circuit loads.

Automatic Control: Based on changes in the external environment detected by various sensors (e.g., microwave sensors, motion sensors) installed in controlled areas, the system automatically sends corresponding control signals to achieve automatic control of circuit loads.

Scene Control: Depending on the control requirements of different scenarios, the system can preset multiple scene control modes and switch between them freely.

Timer Control: The system automatically controls lighting according to preset operating times, ensuring minimal energy consumption during non-working hours.

Centralized Control: The system enables centralized control of all loads in controlled areas and provides real-time monitoring of the on/off status of all controlled circuits. This control method makes lighting control more convenient, efficient, and time-saving.

System Integration: The intelligent lighting control system can also integrate with property management systems, building automation systems, and security and fire protection systems.
